School bells are ringing in rolling succession across the US and North America, maybe even in your neck of the woods. Whether the kids in your area start back to school August 1st or after Labor Day, it’s hard to escape the hard core messaging from retailers. Stores vie for your dollars for the perfect first day outfit, hipster backpack or specific yet impossible-to-find brand Ticonderoga number 2 pencils. Lunch bags, binders, computers, dry-erase markers and cleaning wipes. Tissues, composition books, highlighters, calculators and folders.
Parents, and teachers, are trying to keep up a smiling front on the frustration and overwhelm.
Back to school blues
True, the people on your team may really need a break with some outrageously fun team building. This may also be the perfect time to think about all the kids who don’t get the items on their back to school supply list. The reasons vary, but the situation puts them at a disadvantage from the moment they step into the classroom. They can feel somehow behind or unprepared in comparison to their peers. It’s not the kids’ fault. School supplies may be the least of their worries. Did you know 15.3 MILLION school aged children are food insecure? They aren’t certain about their next meal after they leave school in the evening or on weekends.
Why on earth are we sharing this? Your group may be in a perfect position to be the solution to the problem.
Be the change
We’ve created interactive and engaging team building events where participants fill school back packs or where they create, decorate and fill snack bags. Whether in a cooperative or competitive environment, your group will have a great time and make a huge difference. If you’re wanting to make an even larger impact, how about working on site at the school to update, renovate or beautify the campus? Learn more about how CSR events impact your meeting participants.

Want to leave a lasting legacy but can’t get away from the office or hotel ballroom? Back to school efforts can include building benches, picnic tables or even potted flowers. You can also do a book drive with your employees and donating them to a school library. All of these and more are great options to make back to school a lot better for a bunch of kids.
Get your group motivated, excited and working together in a great team building now!
